Photo Series — Abby Blackett
The fall colors have been amazing along the Wasatch this year. For this photo series, I decided I wanted to capture the beauty of the changing seasons. Over the course of a few weeks, I went to the mountains in search of the fall colors. The first few times I went, the weather was still warm, and the colors were just starting to change. Over the next few weeks, the weather started to change. The temperature got cooler, and the colors started to stand out even more. My favorite day I went to the mountains while shooting this series was on a classic fall day. It was cloudy and raining, and the temperature continued to get colder. As I arrived in the mountains, the fog had come down over the trees which gave me a perfect opportunity to capture both the beauty of fall and the beginning of winter. The seasons change very quickly in the mountains. I think this quote by J.L. Carr describes it perfectly: “The first breath of autumn was in the air, a prodigal feeling, a feeling of wanting, taking, and keeping before it is too late.”
